Prophecy of this Book

In chapter 22 we encounter three times the phrase “prophecy of this book” (22:7,10,18). One time we find “book of this prophecy” (22:19).

Paul Holding a Book

Although every word and phrase is important in Revelation, whenever a phrase repeats, it needs our special attention.

If something repeats twice or more, it means it is very important.

The Book of Revelation is like a container that holds or carries all these words, sayings, and spirit of prophecy.

What about “book of this prophecy”? Chapter 1 contains one clue, but chapter 5 is the main place to go for more clues.

In chapter 1 the Son of man instructs John to write in a book what he sees, and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia.

Seven Churches

These seven historic churches are all located in what is known as Little Asia (Asia Minor) or Anatolia, which is part of present day Turkey. In another module we will get more clarity about what the seven churches represent.

Seven Seals

In chapter 5 we learn that the book is written within and on the backside, and is sealed with seven seals. The mystery of the seven seals is one of the greatest secrets of the Book of Revelation.

In our introduction we mentioned how the warp and woof of creation is known as the cosmic grid. We introduced the cosmic grid in our article titled: Symbolic Meanings behind Jacob’s Ladder and Joseph’s Coat.

The seven seals are seven major cycles that cover the entire warp and woof of our universe. The range of these seven major cycles contain the cycles of all other mysteries of Revelation. In later modules we will bring further understanding of these seven mysterious seals.
