Words of God
At the beginning of Revelation we read about the blessings for those that read and hear the words of this prophecy (1:3).
Towards the end it states that these words of God are true and faithful (21:5).
Furthermore it tells us that the words of God shall be fulfilled (17:17).
However, we may well first ask: how can we be confident that throughout history, nobody tampered with the verses or individual words of Revelation?
How do we know that at some point or other nobody added or left out any verses or words?
We find the answer to this question in chapter 22.
Two Grave Warnings
Revelation 22:18-19 contain two grave warnings to anyone who may attempt to add or remove any words:
“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
Warnings about Tampering
In Deuteronomy 4:2 we see that Moses gave a similar warning to all Israel,
“Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.”
The words of Moses reflect a general warning to all people not to tamper with the scriptures.
Why would God give two additional warnings in Revelation?
He did it for a very specific reason, which will become clear soon.
I discovered that God hid something very important and precise behind the words in Revelation that should not in any way be altered.
